GSK, Save the Children partner to identify new initiatives for reducing child deaths

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Save the Children have entered into a new partnership to identify new healthcare discoveries to minimize child deaths.

A $1m Healthcare Innovation Award has been formed to reward the healthcare innovations in decreasing child deaths in the developing countries.

The organizations from the developing countries across the world can nominate the examples of innovative healthcare approaches they have discovered or implemented.

Co-chaired by GSK CEO Andrew Witty and Save the Children CEO Justin Forsyth, the Judging Panel will award $250,000 to the best healthcare innovation to further go ahead with the work. Additional $750,000 is available for runners-up awards.

GSK CEO Sir Andrew Witty said, "This award will identify the most effective ideas being put into practice in developing countries and, by providing much needed funding, will enable these innovations to be scaled-up to reduce childhood deaths and will inspire others in the process."
